My nephew got me the "Advanced" expansion for Old-School Essentials. Something of a running with him and his mom - she used to buy me the third book in a series for my birthday.
Anyway, I dig it. It is pretty much B/X (/BECM) re-organized, corrected, and cleaned up. The "Advanced" set adds to the basic rules. Things like "Half-elf Paladins" and the like are possible with the expansion. You can also make a level 1 Druid (which was not possible in B/X, iirc), play a Drow and some other weird playable classes/races. It's just really well done and puts a smile on my face.

I am now looking to see if the Custom Character rules from Dragon Magazine will work with Old-School Essentials. Should be interesting - or frustrating.
Definitely one or the other... possibly both.
