It is widely thought that there are only a few character types available to players of Basic D&D. These being, Cleric Druid Fighter Magic-User Mystic Thief Dwarf Elf Halfling. In truth, TSR made a WHOLE lot of PC types. I don't allow most of them (Treants, Minotaurs, Centaurs, and the like are kind of hard to run in a dungeon), but I do allow: Generic Adventurer Ability/Characteristic Hit Dice: d6 to L8, +1 after Armor: Leather, Shield Weapons: Swords, Bows, Daggers Racial Abilities: None Magic: Weapons Armor Potions/Rings Save as: Thief Specialties: none Hit Table Progression: every 4 lvls Spells: None Thief Abilities: None
Prime Requisite = “SAVE AS” class
Experience Progression From____--->________To 1.......1,140.......2 2.......2,280.......3 3.......4,560.......4 4.......9,120.......5 5.......18,240......6 6.......36,480......7 7.......71,250......8 8.......142,500.....9 9.......213,750.....10 10......285,000.....11

More to come

Please do, when you can! I never saw anything like this before, it looks worth a shot.

It was in Dragon Magazine way back when. I'll find it on the Internet Archive and post it here. It's really pretty easy.

Sorry it took so long... I had a moment. The link is to the Internet Archive and takes you to Dragon Magazine Issue 109 (click thumbnail for link) I had a Spreadsheet that did the math for you, but I can't find it right now. But I also have a groovy calculator, so I'm good.

y'know... that's a good question. For this thread (and for the article (iirc)), "Blunt" was not a Sword, Axe, Dagger, Bow (meaning "arrows"), catapult, or pole weapon (pole arm, spear, lance, or javelin).

Those are some cool additions. I'm going to have to try some of them out.
