Making Monsters can be almost as fun as creating characters. If you have one you made, feel free to post it here.
SKUNK BEAR
Armor Class: 8 (11 zeta)
Hit Dice: 5*
Attacks: 2 claws/1 bite/1 squirt
Damage: 1-8/1-8/1-10/special
No Appearing: 1 (1-4)
Save As: Fighter: 4
Morale: 10 (18+ zeta)
Treasure Type: U
Alignment: Neutral
XP Value: 300
A creature to be avoided at all costs, the Skunk Bear appears at first to be a black Grizzly Bear with a short tail and two parallel white stripes down its back. Skunk Bears are omnivores who live in woodlands and mountains and are normally nocturnal. If a Skunk Bear is seen during the day it is likely hungry or has been forced from its den; neither are likely to make this beast any friendlier. In combat, Skunk Bears will often turn their back to the attacker and spray the unlucky soul with musk.
The spray is 15 feet wide, 15 feet high, and 50 feet long. Any creature caught within the spray must make a Saving Throw versus Poison or be helpless with nausea for 2d10+10 rounds. Those who make their save are only able to move, attack, and cast spells at half the normal rate for the duration of the effects.
In addition to the short-term effects above, the smell from the coating of musk reduces the victim’s chances of surprise by 6. It also makes characters so repellant to others that they have an effective Charisma of 3 until they and their clothes are thoroughly washed. Even then, the Character’s CHA is halved for 1d6 days until the smell finally dissipates. Simply changing clothes will not help as the smell clings to skin and hair.
Note: The Skunk Bear comes from Native American (Ojibwe) myth. They have some pretty impressive monsters
